    Charts you can still read when the data gets busy

    Charts with a lot of bars used to fight themselves: value labels broke across two lines and landed on top of the columns, the labels along the bottom shrank to nothing but dots, and a chart set to show currency could round its own axis off. All three are fixed. A busy chart now shows the labels it has room for, in full, and leaves out the ones it does not.

    Worked examples in the community gallery

    The community gallery starts with four boards you can open and read rather than fill in: a weekly sync with a real week on it, a launch plan with the blockers written next to each item, a support-ticket flow including the loops that usually get left off, and a retro that ends in actions with names and dates. They are meant to be taken apart — open one, see how it is put together, clear the notes and use it.

    Averages you can read, and AI buttons that match your theme

    A dashboard average could come out as 37.91666666666666. It now reads 37.92 — rounded where BoardOS worked the number out, never where you typed one. The AI buttons kept their original blue whichever colour theme you picked; they now take the theme’s own colour. And the AI prompt box no longer hands you back the text you cancelled.

    A list that can’t load now says so

    When BoardOS couldn’t fetch a list — your boards, a board’s versions, its comments, your recycle bin, a team’s members — it showed the same message as having none of them. “No boards here yet.” “The recycle bin is empty.” Nothing was ever missing, but there was no way to tell that from the screen. Those places now say the list couldn’t be loaded, and offer to try again.

    A new board you only changed a setting on now keeps it

    A brand-new board is left unsaved until you actually start it — a sticky, a name, a template — so a canvas you glanced at and closed doesn’t clutter your dashboard. Changing one of the board’s own settings, like turning on automatic versioning, didn’t count as starting it. The board stayed unsaved, the setting went with it, and the board never appeared on your dashboard. Now any setting you change starts the board, exactly like putting something on it.

    Exported board data says what it means

    If you build anything on the board data BoardOS exports, one field has been renamed. An object’s confidentiality setting is now written as who can see it — “hide-from-viewers” or “admins-only” — rather than as a role name that had to be read the other way round. Files exported before today still open exactly as they did.

    Invitation links that finish the journey

    An invitation to a board asks you to sign in, because a board is shared with an email address and we have to know you hold it. What it should not do is forget where you were going. Signing in now returns you to the board you were invited to — including from a link that grants editor access, and from a link to a Hub — and an invitation you open a second time opens the board rather than asking you to request access to it.

    Your time zone, and the one that was missing

    If you set a time zone and it showed as “Not set” the next time you opened Settings, your setting was never lost — BoardOS could not display it. The list of zones and the “detected” hint above it came from two different places that spell renamed zones differently, so anyone in Kyiv, Kolkata or Buenos Aires could be shown a zone the list beneath it did not contain. Both now agree. UTC is also selectable, which it was not.

    The share preview is a picture of what you are sharing

    When you publish a selection to the community, the preview that goes with it is what everyone browses by — so it should be a picture of exactly what you published. It was a picture of the area your selection covered instead, which meant an object that happened to sit between two you had chosen appeared in it, even though it was never part of the submission. The preview now shows the objects you selected and the connectors between them, and nothing else.

    Everything on the board is now in the picture

    Eight kinds of object — Hubs, equations, Markdown notes, animated objects, code, rich text, maps and embeds — were left out of every picture BoardOS takes of a board. Export to PDF, PowerPoint or Word and you got a file of exactly the right size with a blank gap where each of them sat. They are all in the picture now, carrying their own content: a Hub exports as its table, an equation as its graph, an animated object as its message held still.

    Your keyboard, your numbers, and three things that got in the way

    Two things in BoardOS quietly assumed an English-speaking setup. If your keyboard is set to anything other than a Latin layout — Ukrainian, Greek, Russian and others — the single-key shortcuts did nothing at all, and neither did Ctrl+Z or Ctrl+C. And if you write decimals with a comma, a number like 110,5 was read as 1105, so any chart drawn from it was ten times too tall. Both are fixed, along with a locked object that let you type into it and then threw the text away.

    Slides that change how things look

    A presentation step can now restyle an object and have it stay that way for the rest of the show — a box turns green, then the arrow between it and the next box goes red and heavy. It is how you show a process running, or a decision landing, without drawing the same diagram five times.

    Presentations you can time

    A presentation no longer has to be one click per thing that happens. You can set how long the show pauses between objects that arrive on their own, decide where in the sequence an animation starts, and let a whole section play itself out and then wait for you. Everything you have already built keeps its current timing exactly.

    Charts can read your schedule

    A chart, a word cloud or a shape can now be pointed at a Gantt chart or a calendar, the same way it can already be pointed at a table or a Hub list. The chart reads the plan directly and keeps up with it, so a burn-down beside a project plan is one object reading another instead of a second table you have to remember to update.

    Exports finish, even when a picture can't come along

    Some websites don't let their pictures be copied into a file. A board holding one of those pictures now exports normally: the picture is replaced by a labelled box saying it isn't included, everything else comes through in full, and BoardOS tells you which site it was so you can add that picture from your device instead.

    Resize a frame and everything in it comes with you

    Dragging a frame smaller now scales the objects inside it — their size and their text — and keeps the arrangement you laid out. A frame will only go as small as its contents allow, so nothing is ever left behind outside the edge, and growing the frame again brings everything back up with it.

    One copy in your colours, the rest of the set untouched

    A piece you place from a library can now be given its own colours — and only that copy changes. It stays linked to the set it came from, so the set can be updated later and your copy keeps the colour you chose. When a colour isn’t enough, you can detach a piece into ordinary objects and edit it however you like.

    Objects that stay linked to their set, and exports that carry the whole board

    An object you place from a library now stays linked to the set it came from, so a board stays light and every copy of a piece is drawn from the same artwork. Exporting a large board gives you the whole board in full detail whatever you were looking at, and without the editor’s own selection marks in the picture. And a change to your role on a shared board now arrives as a notice instead of turning up the next time you try to type.

    A library that comes with something in it

    Three sets of ready-made objects now ship with BoardOS, and any set — built-in, shared by the community, or from your team — can be kept in your toolbar so its pieces are one click away on every board. Locking an object now protects it from every tool, and a board zoomed out over thousands of objects pans smoothly.

    Connectors you can draw, and files that arrive whole

    Connectors are drawn by dragging now, the way you would expect. Enter starts a new line in a sticky note. Present mode can hold something on screen behind a blur or a cover instead of leaving it out entirely. And the PowerPoint, Word and Excel exports carry the board’s actual content.

    Drawing, and a library you can see

    The pen now varies with how you draw, a rough scribble can become a real board object, and there is an eraser. The shared library has pictures and browses in a panel beside the board rather than a window over it — with sets of related items, and favourites that follow you from one device to the next.

    Resizing that behaves

    Shrinking an object further than it could actually be drawn used to leave the whole board unresponsive until you reloaded. Objects now stop at a sensible minimum, boards already affected repair themselves when opened, and resizing shows the same alignment guides as moving.

    Hub table columns can finally be dragged to size on the board, Hubs snap to your other objects like everything else does, and Kanban boards can be resized from the canvas. Timelines gain Quarter and Year, and the calendar uses the whole page.

    Column widths that behave

    Hub table columns now do what you tell them in both width modes — dragging a divider actually moves it, and the status column stops taking space it has nothing to put in. Plus a tidier owner column, clearer Gantt task rows, and the canvas zoom controls no longer run into the Ask AI button.

    Gantt charts now plan properly: all four dependency types, lead and lag time, and the date constraints project managers actually use. Plus a round of fixes across Hub tables and timelines, and the ability to duplicate or delete a table.

    You can now choose what your mouse wheel does without leaving the board, Hub tables can keep the column widths you set instead of sharing them out, and a handful of editor panels that were cramped or misaligned have been straightened out.

    Smooth panning, and dark mode that holds

    Panning with a trackpad is smooth, a board you open and don't use no longer becomes a tile on your dashboard, and light and dark mode now behave properly when the people on a board aren't in the same one.

    Artistic boards

    Boards no longer have to look like a dot grid. There are now whiteboard, blackboard, chalkboard and honeycomb surfaces, ten handwriting and chalk fonts, text that runs a gradient as you type, and shape styles that genuinely look hand-drawn rather than merely styled. Objects can also be animated during a presentation, not only as they arrive.

    Access requests, share links and notifications

    Getting into a board you can't open no longer means emailing someone and waiting. You can request access from the door, hosts can hand out per-role share links and revoke them from one page, and the notification bell now lets you act on what it tells you.     Teams can now buy Pro seats for everyone who creates, with no sales call.     Apps, touch and the code engine

    BoardOS became installable — as a progressive web app, a Microsoft Teams app, and desktop and mobile shells — and the board itself became genuinely usable on a touchscreen. The in-board code engine grew into one Code object covering JavaScript, TypeScript, Python and SQL, with multi-file projects.

    ER diagrams, charts and AI on your own board

    The ER diagram became a single object you can round-trip to SQL, charts gained Excel-grade formatting and pivot summarisation, and shapes learned to take their label and colour from live data. The AI assistant stopped only building new things and started working on the board you already have — clustering, summarising and reviewing it. Billing went live the day before.

    Process charts, presentation reveals and guest access

    The process chart arrived — a flowchart whose steps and flows are edited as structured data and export as a real process model. Present mode gained reveal animations with On click / With previous / After previous triggers, the Hub learned to hold real uploaded files, and people can now join a shared board as a guest without an account.

    Your data, out

    The read-only data API opened, with personal access tokens you generate in Settings, so board, Hub and table data can be pulled into anything that speaks HTTP. Excel and per-object export landed alongside it, and eleven new object types arrived — including the pen, word cloud, quiz, sequence diagram, Markdown and code snippet.

    The Hub, AI and community

    The Hub arrived: a relational work object where the same records can be read as a table, timeline, board, calendar or dashboard, with calculated and lookup columns, dependencies, a critical path and conditional formatting. AI landed the same week — generating boards and Hubs, refining a selection, and answering questions — along with community templates, support ticketing and two-factor authentication.

    Collaboration, present mode and the advanced editor

    BoardOS became multiplayer. Real-time co-editing landed on conflict-free (CRDT) sync, boards could be shared by email with viewer, editor and admin roles, and an Advanced editor mode opened up the professional objects — flowchart shapes, swimlanes, ERD tables, Gantt, hierarchies and SmartArt — alongside the first present mode and embeds.
